Who is a candidate for dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a quick, spa-like treatment that gently exfoliates the outer layer of skin to reveal new, healthy skin beneath. You may be a good candidate for dermaplaning if you have:

  • Unwanted peach fuzz
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Acne scars
  • Sun damage

What can I expect with this procedure?

Physical exfoliation in a dermaplaning procedure triggers cell regeneration and allows products to more effectively penetrate the skin. Dermaplaning is performed using a #10 sterile surgical blade, which is held at a 45-degree angle and stroked along the skin, in a process similar to shaving. Your skincare expert will be stroking the skin with the blade while holding the area taut, and may apply a custom serum to your skin, once the treatment is complete.

What are the benefits of dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-surgical, minimally-invasive procedure that produces instant results. Treatment is quick, virtually painless, requires no downtime, and comes with an impressive variety of benefits, particularly in Colorado's harsh, dry weather climate. These benefits include:

  • Quick treatment
  • Painless procedure
  • No downtime
  • Evens skin tone and texture
  • Helps reduce wrinkles
  • Smooths and brightens skin
  • Helps remove dry skin
  • Removes unwanted fine “baby hairs” on the face

We are located in Avon and serve patients who live in Breckenridge & Vail Valley.

FAQ

Is there any recovery after dermaplaning?

There is no recovery after dermaplaning. You may resume normal activities on the same day of treatment. You can expect to experience slight peeling, a sensation like windburn, or blotchiness, and skincare products may tingle when applied for the first few days.

Who is not a good candidate for dermaplaning?

Facial shaving (dermaplaning) is not recommended if you are experiencing an active acne breakout, eczema, have raised lesions on the skin, or a history of hypertrophic or keloid scarring.

Can dermaplaning be performed at home?

No, this treatment should not be performed at home. Although dermaplaning is also called facial shaving, it is not the same thing as shaving hair from the face. This procedure uses a single surgical blade and should only be performed by a skincare professional.

How should I prepare for dermaplaning treatment?

Before a dermaplaning procedure, stop all hair removal in the treatment area. Do not use peels, exfoliation products, or injectables for one week before treatment. Do not use Accutane for 12 months before dermaplaning.
